Versions and terms
Every import creates a new version rather than overwriting the old one. Exactly one version per term is active at a time.
Why versions exist
Section titled “Why versions exist”Timetables change constantly during add/drop. Versions let you:
- see exactly what a new file would change before committing to it
- save a version without activating it
- go back if you activated the wrong one
Version states
Section titled “Version states”| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The one in use. Shared free time, course feeds and syllabus all follow it. |
| Archived | Saved but not in use; can be activated at any time. |

Section titled “Switching”Pick an archived version and activate it. The switch replaces the term’s imported classes wholesale.
What a switch knocks on to
Section titled “What a switch knocks on to”The active version is what several features check against, so after switching:
- Course feed subscriptions require the course to be in your active timetable. If the new version no longer has that course, the subscription loses its basis.
- Syllabus uploads require an active timetable for the term.
