Adding friends
Finding people
Section titled “Finding people”Search needs at least 2 characters before it runs. Everyone’s profile lives at
/people/<username>.
Sending a request
Section titled “Sending a request”-
Send a request by email or username.
Either works, and a leading
@on a username is stripped automatically. -
Wait for them to accept.
Friendship is mutual. They get a friend request notification, and until they accept you are not friends and neither of you can see the other’s schedule.
-
They accept or decline.
social-friends-01What friends can see
Section titled “What friends can see”Two layers decide this together:
- Each event’s visibility — only events marked “Friends” show details to friends
- Account-level switches — whether course details, location and live status show at all
They combine as AND: an event marked “Friends” still shows only as busy if you have turned course details off.
social-friends-02Shared free time
Section titled “Shared free time”Once you are friends you can see the free time you have in common. This uses only the busy/free layer, so it still works when every event is set to “Busy” with no details.
The exception is “Private”: those events do not count as busy, so others may read that time as free.
Managing a friend
Section titled “Managing a friend”Each friend has these settings. They are yours alone — the other person cannot see them:
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Note | A private name for this person, visible only to you |
| Pin | Keeps the people you check often at the top |
| Birthday | Record their birthday, optionally with a reminder |
| Watch schedule | Notifies you when their timetable changes |
Blocking and removing
Section titled “Blocking and removing”- Block cuts off contact and can be undone later
- Remove ends the friendship
Either way they stop seeing anything you marked “Friends”.
