Uploading a syllabus
Upload a course syllabus and Assistant pulls out exams, assignments and deadlines as a draft for you to review.
What you need first
Section titled “What you need first”The term must already have an active timetable. Without one you cannot upload, because Assistant needs the timetable to tell which course and term this is.
Formats and size
Section titled “Formats and size”| Formats | PDF, DOCX, DOC, XLSX, TXT, MD, CSV |
| Maximum size | 8 MB per file |
Anything larger is rejected outright. Scanned PDFs with no text layer often yield nothing — use a text-based version if you have one.
-
Open the materials page and pick the term and course.
-

Wait for the analysis.
The file moves through uploaded → analyzing → analyzed. It takes a moment, so feel free to do something else.

Versions
Section titled “Versions”A course can have several syllabus uploads, numbered as versions. If the course publishes an updated syllabus, upload the new one; the old version is kept.
Uploading a byte-identical file again does not create a new version.
When extraction fails
Section titled “When extraction fails”If no text can be read, the status stops at failed with a reason. Common causes:
- a scan or image-only PDF
- an encrypted or password-protected file
- a corrupted file
In that case, add the events by hand instead.
